I have been lucky enough to meet this talented and sweet designer so many times and love her incredible work, her last collection was in the most icon location I've ever experienced at the House of Commons. What's your name and the name of your collection?
Zeynep Kartal and my new Spring Summer collection is entitled 'A Royal Romance'
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Bursa, Turkey.
Where and what did you study?
I studied Fashion in FMS Fashion School in Bursa and after I moved to UK for my husband’s work I went on to study Fashion Design at Manchester City College.
Where can we find your label?
My showroom is in Manchester city centre, in a beautiful 16th century building, my main stockist in the UK is via my e-com website www.zeynepkartal.co.uk
What or who inspired you to go into fashion?
I have always been passionate about design, I feel like it is in my gene's. When I was child I started designing dresses for my dolls and my interest grew. It was a very exciting opportunity when I was able to launch my own label.
What's your biggest aspiration?
My aspiration is to travel doing what I love. I love being surrounded by different cultures, beautiful architecture - seeing the world whilst designing would be the perfect dream!
Describe your style, In terms of your collections is there a trademark style, method or key fabric you would like to be known for?
My pieces are elegant, timeless, sophisticated, and the intricate detailing on every piece makes it unique. Each season I aim to give each collection my ethos, I would like to encourage every woman to find their own style and to feel confident in their appearance. My aesthetic gives a distinctive sense of elegance and femininity. I use the finest fabrics including natural silk, crepe, lace, and lurex silk hand-made embellishments.
What can we expect from your next collection?
Very feminine, floral and with lace texture. There are lighter pastel shades mixed with deeper tones alongside embroidery and embellishment
Which city inspires you?
London and Istanbul
How do you like to relax?
I have twin boys who don't allow me relax much but I love spending time with family and friends. Travel is also a huge inspiration to my work and also a pleasure.
Where's your favourite place to eat?
I love going to Quaglino’s when I’m visiting London
